L. Y. Leong & Partners was established in 1992 as a boutique law firm in Malaysia. The firm provides extensive legal services to a wide range of clients from the public and private sectors, local and multinational companies. We practise in a broad spectrum of areas involving civil and commercial litigation, corporate finance, conveyancing and with our new branch of practise involving Intellectual Property.


We also have specialist department in admiralty & shipping which handle both contentious and non-contentious areas including marine insurance. In the contentious area, we handle ship arrest, marine cargo claims, pursuit and defence of cargo claims, maritime fraud, oil pollution and shipping arbitration. The non-contentious area involved drafting and preparing ship financing loan documentation, ship registration and mortgage, ship sale and purchase.

Graduated with Bachelor of Laws degree with Honours. Admitted as a Member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, London. Registered Mediator with the Bar Council, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Started practise in 1980 as an Advocate & Solicitor with a reputable firm in Kuala Lumpur gaining extensive experience in diverse areas of law. In 1992, she founded this firm specialising in admiralty and marine litigation, civil litigation, general and liability insurance work and corporate finance.

Graduated with Bachelor of Laws with Honours from International Islamic University of Malaysia in 1996. Admitted as Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1997. Practised in Terengganu handling civil litigation, principally in the areas of banking claims, road traffic accident, workers compensation, probate, breach of contract, corporate and conveyancing including preparation of loan documentations with some major Banks, Joint Venture Agreement and Sale and Purchase Agreement. Admitted into the partnership of L. Y. Leong & Partners in 2008. Her current practises are involving corporate finance, maritime, admiralty, banking and motor insurance litigation.

L. Y. Leong & Partners had successfully involved in various cases internationally and locally, namely:
I.	Advises several Insurance companies on Takaful insurance liability, non-motor matters and have handled some major insurance cases on policy liability and defending the Insured or proceeding with subrogated claims. 	
II.	Negotiated the Sale and Purchase Agreement between Konsortium and MISC for the sale of assets worth USD230 million. Handled the loan documentation for a ship building financing matter worth US$55 million with registration of the vessel in Panama and other jurisdictions. 
III.	Acted for several UK Protection and Indemnity Clubs defending their members’ vessels in charter party dispute, arrest of vessels, pollution claims, personal injuries claim, collision in the High Court of Malaya and the Maritime Division of the United States Government on six mortgages' action against six defaulting companies on their government loans, successfully defeating huge marine insurance claims.
IV.	Appointed by a foreign insurance company based in Malaysia to undertake comprehensive study on port liability covering both East and West Malaysian Ports and drafted the trading terms and conditions for several of the port terminals.
